Laser Tattoo Reduction

Our laser tattoo reduction service aims to get rid of unwanted tattoos using high-intensity photo-acoustic shock waves to shatter tattoo ink into tiny fragments, which are then eliminated by the immune system within the body. Darker tattoos or tattoos with black ink can most effectively be treated, with light greens and yellows difficult to treat.

What to expect

Consultation

Prior to your treatment appointment, you will meet with one of our providers to determine if you are a candidate for laser tattoo reduction. Your provider will evaluate your skin type and discuss which areas you'd like to treat. You will learn your pretreatment protocol and any considerations leading up to your appointment.

Treatment

When you arrive for your laser tattoo reduction appointment, your provider will clean the treatment area and place numbing cream over the area to be treated for 30 minutes. In the last 5 minutes of the numbing process, ice will be added to provide additional analgesia. You will be positioned so your provider can easily access the treatment area, and the area will be cleaned of numbing cream and cleansed with a skin antiseptic. You will be provided protective eyewear to protect your eyes during the treatment. During the treatment, your provider will pass the handpiece over the tattooed area. The treatment itself can take anywhere from 5-30 minutes. Most clients find the process to be incredibly tolerable.

Aftercare

Your skin will have frosting of the area for the initial two to three treatments, followed by redness or subtle welts with subsequent treatments. You are encouraged to clean the area once a day with a gentle soap and water, then place the provided occlusive ointment over and cover with a nonstick pad until healed. Avoid submerging the treated area in water until it is healed. Once healed, avoid sun exposure to the area. Your provider will give you a post-treatment card to remind you of instructions.

Treatment Length

Our packages begin with three treatment sessions, although minimally two packages should be expected. Treatments are scheduled 8-12 weeks apart to allow your body time to absorb and clear the ink in between sessions.
