IPL Photofacial Treatment

IPL photofacial is a light-based treatment with our laser that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to target pigmentation, redness, sun damage, and uneven skin tone without a lot of irritation or downtime. One of the benefits of IPL is that it can address multiple skin concerns in a single session with minimal discomfort.

What to expect

Consultation

Prior to your treatment appointment, you will meet with one of our providers to determine if you are a candidate for the IPL Photofacial. Your provider will evaluate your skin type and discuss any concerns you'd like to treat. You will also learn your pretreatment protocol and considerations leading up to your appointment.

Treatment

When you arrive for your IPL appointment, your provider will clean the treatment area and place a cool gel on your skin. You will be provided protective eyewear to protect your eyes during the treatment. You may feel a mild snapping and warmth with each pulse, but your skin will cool down shortly after. After treatment, the gel will be removed from your skin and a cool towel will be placed over the treatment area. The treatment itself takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Most clients find the process to be incredibly tolerable.

Aftercare

Your skin may feel warm and may be slightly red or flushed for a few hours after. You will notice that the dark spots will continue to darken over the next 12 hours and will clear from the skin in 7-12 days. While there is no expected downtime, it is important to avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks after and avoid any activities that cause flushing for the 48 hours after your procedure.

Treatment Length

For clients looking to target pigment, redness, or antiaging, clients require 3 to 5 sessions, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, for optimal outcomes. The results last for several years as long as you focus on skin health and sun protection.

For clients looking to target acne, weekly sessions are preformed for six weeks and then maintenance is scheduled every four weeks.
